DRAMASETTER'S REVIEW: Dead Space:Extraction(Wii)

Dead Space was truly a unique experience in the survival horror franchise and overall one of the best games to be released in this generation. After it it was all said and done it left us thirsty for a new trip to this new outer world. One year later, we get Dead Space: Extraction, a "rail-shooter" on the Wii unlike any other. This prequel explains the fallout of the USG Ishimura, the origins of the Necromorph infection and the introduction to the"Marker". Can this game live up and continue to tell the story in a whole new direction without taking out what made the first part classic......in one word: yes.
THE GOOD:
  • One of the best story driven rail shooters ever. Matter fact, the only story driven rail shooter ever. Not a mindless shooter like many others before it.
  • Managed to fit everything from Dead Space into Extraction. The line gun is still as brutal, the statis is still intact, and the teleknesis is still a blast to control.
  • The game is still as scary and graphically looks great on the Wii.
  • The extras include challenge maps to test your skills, higher difficulty levels, and 6 issuses of the animated comics unearthing new details about Extraction.
  • Very good use of the Wii-mote. Interaction is key here.
THE BAD:
  • Only complaint is that i wanted more. The game could be beaten in 6 hours on hard. Once you beat it that's it. Replay value is very low unless you do the challenge maps.
THE UGLY:
  • That girl from the picture above and the game cover.
Overall, Extraction is a must get game for fans of the series or even new comers alike. This is one of the best that the Wii delivered this year and it should'nt be passed by any means. Most definetley a contender for Game of the Year. Run out and get this game.

SCORE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>9 OUT OF 10
